Bay Village Class of 1962 began their 40th Reunion Weekend on Friday August 9.  The committee met in the afternoon at the Bay Lodge (Bradley and Wolf Road) and were busy blowing up balloons and making "real" popcorn for the first night of the Reunion weekend.  Yearbook pictures were on stars hanging from the ceiling and the tables were decorated just like back in high school....with that old Blue & White spirit. The weather was perfect, the sun was shinning, and NO humidity. Everyone was so excited as the day had finally arrived.

The Marriott Courtyard in Westlake was where most of us stayed from out of town.  Starting as early as a week before classmates started to arrive.  Some came in early and also included other family members....making it like a vacation.  Most arrived on Friday and were pleased to see familiar faces as soon as they walked into the lobby.  The Marriott announced the Bay High School Class of 1962 on their message board.  As each classmate checked in they were given a bag with a chocolate (made in Cleveland) and a note saying "Welcome Classmates & Friends to the Bay High School 40th Reunion Weekend...Sweet Memories".

It was very emotional with many hugs & kisses as each person went around the room.  Thank heavens for the name tags!  You could feel the hole room swell with genuine..."boy and I glad to see you".  We saw people that came back...that we hadn't seen since 8th grade...and they still knew who we were!

The surprise for the evening was the "Rocket Car" ride.  It was a rocket from a ride at Euclid Beach, mounted on wheels.  We sped through Bay in a silver rocket....I am surprised we didn't make front page of the paper the next day.  It was truly a blast from the past.

Midnight came much too quickly and no one was ready to call it a night....but knowing that Saturday had more events planned we quit at one o'clock in the morning.
