Ray Pierie

	Ray Pierie has been facing one of life's challenges for the past 2 1/2 years~ cancer. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 2004 and has had major surgery, radiation therapy and eighteen months of chemo treatments. His latest CT-scans etc remain clear and normal. Ray is feeling better every day and plans on taking another year off to fully regain his strength and vitality before deciding what new adventures to get involved in next. He has a new found appreciation for life and every day he thanks God for giving him a second chance to live UPDATED 11/08 Ray "survivor" Pierie sends us an update. The pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with in June of 2004 has returned. It wasn’t expected, but then again, life continues to offer us challenges doesn't it? He has been on new chemo meds for 2 months now. Ray feels one of the best things we can do when battling illness is to keep a positive attitude. Friends and family are a huge help in that regard.

	Bill & Carol are still working as they have their own manufacturer's rep firm in Columbus which keeps them both very busy. Their three kids are all grown and married. Kim (a homemaker) has three kids to keep her busy. Son Ryan lives in Bay Village which allows return visits to Bay and their youngest son Kyle lives in Florida. Bill & Carol are expecting grandchild number eight soon. Kids are their greatest gift in life and they are so proud of each one of them. Bill & Carol love the beach, traveling and biking every chance they get!

	Still living on "Disfunctional Pharm" with their llamas, geese, chickens, dogs, cats etc. Bonnie is a teaching assistant in the English department at E.O. Smith High School. Two sons married, five grandkids and one single daughter. They love living in the last green valley in the quiet corner of Connecticut.

	Dave and his wife Kathy are still living in the middle of Florida although they do feel it's getting a little crowded with folks escaping from the north. Dave wonders about life in South America. They are now up to seven grandkids (from the same three children, no additions there). Everybody's doing fine. Their son that is a Navy physician recently returned from a tour in Iraq. That was traumatic for them worrying about him and for him patching all those wounds. The other kids stayed home (Alabama and Florida) and safe. Dave was going to retire when he hit 62 this past summer but was so busy he forgot. He is still a counselor and supervises teen substance abuse programs.

	Joe & Leslie are enjoying the west coast in lovely Palm Desert CA. Joe is still working in real estate. He was recently given a motorcycle by is son and is about to become a “wild hog.” Both of his sons have bikes and they hope to plan a family trip soon. But first Joe and Leslie have a cruise to Cabo San Lucas to go on that they recently won. They have nine grandchildren and most of them live in the San Diego area. Joe hopes to join us at the next Class of 1962 outing.

	June is working full time for Narconon in the Narconon Western United States Management Office. Her title is Executive Establishment Officer and her only Senior is the Executive Director. The purpose of Narconon is to painlessly get people off drugs and alcohol. June also does work on pottery on a part-time basis. She no longer has the Cadillac and never did restore it. Right now her big project is to refurbish her house which is a work in progress. June lives alone with her cat and loves it that way.

	Ruth confesses she has not been good at keeping in touch. The family was deeply saddened by the death of her twin brother Phil last year. She has been married to Paul for 37 years, has three terrific kids, and one special grandchild Jenna 2.5 years. Ruth hangs out with Jenna four days a week when her mom has to work. Together they enjoy hiking in the sand dunes as they live near Lake Michigan. Ruth also enjoys biking, kayaking, and gardening and says "life is good!".

	Val is currently not working but hopes to get a nursing job soon. Bill & Val have three children and seven grandkids and they are looking forward to visiting them in California soon. Val enjoys reading and pastels. 9/08 Val just returned from a wonderful week in Bay, visiting her cousin Nan Farmer...Class of 1958. Val's sister Marcy and niece also came. What a change there!! They went up to Westlake Crocker Park to the 16 movie theatre and Cheesecake factory plus Borders, only 5 minutes from her home. They spent an afternoon at Huntington Beach which is so clean and pretty. Val is hoping to move to Tucson this fall, although they have been saying that for three years. Oldest grandkids will turn thirteen in November. The youngest is 1-1/2.

	Donna's husband John, retired in June 2005 after 32 years with the Department of Veterans. Donna retired along with him after working as a home health care psychiatric nurse the last seven years. Four years ago they started a small business based out of their home to which they are now devoting much more time. They have three grown children. Their eldest son is a graphic artist for a gaming company here in Dallas. Their daughter has been married for five years after graduating from Texas Tech in interior design. She keeps quite busy running after their very active granddaughter and is expecting a grandson in May. Their youngest son is in the hotel and restaurant business and works extremely long hard hours. Donna & John recommend retirement highly and never have a dull moment.
