Jim
& Carol have been quite busy after spending the summer in
Charleston SC working on the great migration study. Jim has
now started the grant that he received in June. Currently he
will be recruiting thirty 5th & 8th grade teachers for
some intense content and methods. He has enjoyed the work so far
and hopes that the professional development the study provides
makes a difference for the kids. Jim had dinner recently with the
Arnolts (remember Pete Arnolt) and says it was so good to
see them after such a long time. The Arnolts saw
several people when we had the Class of 62 Birthday party. Jim
& Carol spent last week at the Cape - took five days vacation
- to get the contractor started on the renovation on their
Cape Cod house which should be finished in four
months. They are hoping to return for a few days in January to
check out the progress. Jim felt a Little strange telling the
contractor what you want, selecting all the colors, surfaces and
giving a final Ok to floor plans and then leaving town.
Doug

Martie's husband
Jon recently retired from a very satisfying career in medical
equipment sales, but does miss the international connections.
They have moved back to the golf course condominium complex they
left a couple of years ago. Martie still practices real
estate she says "until she gets it right!" As we
know it is a very challenging market but she is doing great.
HOPEFULLY, this will be the year they join her dearest friend Barb
Lauderback (Seaman) at their golf-complex in Florida. Barb already has been there 2 years and is waiting
patiently for Martie to arrive.
Martie would love to hear from old (young) school
chums.
Tom is
working as he does not feel ready for retirement! He has two grandchildren Taylor & Brianna.

Gail
sends us a quick note that she decided to retire from the
corporate world. She got tired of working and commuting
long hours for nothing. Started collecting the Social Security
last month – decided to take advantage of this while there are
still funds available. Being home bound did get
boring, She missed being around people, so decided to go back to
work at a job, not a career, in retail. The up side: hours
are less than forty a week, the store is less than a mile from the
house, and she doesn’t have to take any work home. The down
side; it’s retail and this time of year it’s getting a little
nuts. Gail feels it's not much different than the
airline/travel business when you think about it.
